Hi. This is my first post here and am very interested in seeing how this goes. I have many interests and believe myself well versed in many areas, however a Master in none. 🙂 Not doing too bad for a 47 year old. As a combat vet with PTSD I have to try extra hard to maintain my sanity. Do not have a lot of riches here on Earth, but am expecting a mansion when I get to Heaven. I have been serving the homeless for the past 17 years.... . Working Social Services has taught me one thing: Liberal polices do not work....

Anything given for free, without conditions, has no value! Welcome aboard KBunker, and good luck.

First thank YOU for your service...I have a son in law who is a Marine, has struggled a lot with PTSD, and is now, hopefully moving forward at a quicker pace. It is those in the military, like you, who have real insight into the realities of this world. Your serving others, despite what you have been through, shows excellent character AND your faithful service to God will get you that mansion...if they have any in the Garden. Keep up the good work.

Hello KBunker100, you mentioned that you have worked for 17 years with the homeless, and that you do not believe that liberal policies work. Can you expand on that? What policies would work?

Yeah, There is far too much enabling. I am always willing to help those who rightfully need help, but many times, people take advantage. The Housing First policy gives people a place to live but does not make them address the issues that got them into the trouble in the first place. You can suggest that someone get help with their drinking, but if you give them a place to live with no consequences, their drinking/drug use just gets worse..... I could go on and on as I have seen many of our clients die from the consequences of their drinking/drug use. Many I have known for a long time and actually cared for. SNAP is also one of the most abused programs... See people selling their SNAP for booze all the time .

Welcome here and grateful for your service, both militarilly and socially. Homelessness is a subject, that is very personal for me. Yes, the prevailing attitude seems to be, lock them up, or move them along. So thanks again.

I'm less new than you by a week

Welcome fellow vet

PTSD I think has a silver lining, I lost things, learned what real appreciation is.. I hope this community makes you as hopeful as it does me.

Thanks for your service.
