Man gets 20 years for hoax call that led to fatal police shooting
"A California man was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison for making bogus emergency calls to authorities across the U.S., including one that led police to fatally shoot a Kansas man following a dispute between two online players over a $1.50 bet in the "Call of Duty: WWII" video game. U.S. District Judge Eric Melgren sentenced Tyler R. Barriss, 26, under a deal in which he pleaded guilty in November to a total of 51 federal charges related to fake calls and threats." -- CBSNEWS.Com, 03/29/2019
Do you think the 20-year sentence was appropriate in this case?

The call did lead to the death ,i still would like to know why the cop had to shoot the person that died , If it wasn't for the call he would be alive and the judge would have to consider the guilt the cop must be feeling finding he killed an innocent man,he did this 51 times ,behavior like this isn't normal ,the lack of control of oneself ,yeah 20 years .
IMHO, one of the big failures of society in recent generations is the lack of understanding that with actions come consequences and taking responsibility for their action is REQUIRED.
A man DIED and obviously this kid didn't even consider that, or maybe he didn't care because it doesn't directly impact his world negatively. Who knows...
He probably won't serve the full 20 years anyway so I'd say justice was done...
For crying out loud, this guy is a repeat offender. FIFTY-ONE federal charges against him. It's a wonder that no one else was killed.
