I'm a bit peeved. My son keeps referring to 'SJW's' in a very derogatory fashion and I've always wondered why, as I'm all for social justice and equality. Anyway, I decided to look up the meaning and I feel a bit offended (lol). I quite like the term, but it appears that it refers to that awful group of people who get offended by everything and jump up and down whenever someone opens their mouth to speak. This group has appropriated a perfectly nice term and turned it into something hideous. So now, I'll have to think up some other term to describe myself. Any suggestions?

You can call yourself anything you want. My considerations on this... A warrior is necessarily some one who wages war. You don’t sound the type 🙂. And Justice usually is acquired by reasonable debate.Im so tired of how that word is used: The war on this and the war on that and the war on social injustice. Justice is usually acquainted with due and considered process and I like that better. Do you need to call yourself anything? You are a multifaceted and complex being. You probably don’t like being labeled by any one. Why do it to yourself? Be free to think outside even concepts you equate yourself with. Be free!

I'm Classically Liberal, which confuses all the the kids (and politicians) that skipped economics class. And history. Labels are meaningless and subjective in our modern social contexts. The Milquetoastian Offended Ones (MOOs) who call themselves "liberal" and "social justice warriors" lack the background to grasp that their cries are those of every "well-meaning" statist and tyrant the last few hundred years.

"Social justice" is a denial of justice--a contradiction in terms.

Exactly, kind of like how I can’t even call myself liberal anymore because people will assume I’m some raving leftist lunatic that supports Antifa and BLM and that “punching nazis” (people in MAGA caps) is morally righteous and civil behavior. Uh, no. The left has lost its mind. #walkaway.

Controller of safety and free speech, inhibitor of fun ?

See, that's what I mean Organicplum. No, I'm none of those things. As soon as I say I'm all for social justice, you immediately think I'm one of those people. I like iThink's term of 'truth seeker'. I think I will adopt that term 🙂

in the first place "social justice" is a meaningless term. sounds like you're searching for Truth. Call yourself a truth seeker and try very hard to look at problems objectively and as free from emotion as you can.

I like this. This is what I am 🙂 A truth seeker 🙂

The whole label crisis these days is bothersome. I’m all for treating human beings equally, but I definitely don’t consider myself a “SJW”, by today’s definition. I guess I’m a fan of respecting others in a way I’d want for myself, in return, but I wouldn’t hold my breath that’ll have its own terminology, any time soon!

How about dropping the social and warrior and just speak about justice?

Leftists are always appropriating terms to obfuscate their degeneracy. Here in America, the term liberal is so misused for the same reason. While I'm a liberal in the classic sense, I'm surely not in the co-opted Leftist sense. In the same vein, social justice and equality have been bastardized to mean equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity or equality before the law. Governmental giving to people something they have not earned without strings attached (e.g. improving their situation) is not justice to those who pay for the vote-payment handouts.
