Just an observation about "Progressivism" here on IDW. It seems that the only word progressive use more than the word "racist" is the word "hate". They use both these words so often and indiscriminately that the practical meanings and the literal definitions of "racism" and "hate" are rendered, well, meaningless. There is already a lot of content about the abuse or misuse of the word "racism" so I won't dwell on that any further. It is the word "hate" I wish to discuss. It seems Progressives default response to ideas that challenge their own assertions is hyper emotional and is characterized as "HATE" or "hateful speech". Could it be the explanation for their fall back position is risen out of the fact their ideas regarding climate change and multi-culturalism for example, are not based in reality but mostly on emotions? Is this an accurate observation of Progressive behavior or am I misinterpreting their debating style? Progressives seem to love throwing the word "hate" around so much that they use it casually. For example, I have seen a number of posts here at IDW where "hate" is implicitly invoked if not explicitly expressed. One user rhetorically asks "how do we find a voice without stirring up hate". She goes on to infer that competing or challenging points of view are informed by intolerant hate filled people. She goes on to say "we need to find one voice" in order that we (of course this is use of the word "we" in the collective sense) Progress toward her apparent notion of a better world. I can almost hear John Lennons song "Imagine" playing in the background as she writes her post. She manages to evoke and invoke hate at the same time in her musing. I will conclude by imploring Progressives to get rid of hate! There is no place for "hate" in a thoughtful discussion about important subjects.
