As I sit this evening watching the Memorial Day concert in Washington DC, I want to remind all those that we have widows that expand from WWII to current combat theaters living in our communities, not all are widows of KIA, but lived years with their active duty husbands. My husband LT.Col. William Floyd serviced in the Navy during Vietnam, he served in the Navy for 7 years. He left the Navy to go to college, first getting his BS in nursing then joining the Army to attend Medical school to obtain a decree in Anesthesia, he retired from the Army in 2007 after 34 years of service and sadly my husband passed in 2017 from indopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. In my eyes I am a military widow since his disease was military service related. Many of our veterans are passing from military related service, from PTSD, agent orange and physical and mental wounds received during combat.
We their widows are by all meaning of the word Military widows. I stood by my husband as he took his oath of service, as he was promoted, moving more offend then I wish to remember and when I thought finally we are settled in a permanent home, he was told he had maybe two years to live, after 18 months he passed in my arms. And as he always his concern was for me, his last words to me we're "I love you, be strong" , you'll make it though this, I know you can.
Two years have passed and I still cry every day, and I'm sure I'll cry every day of my life for lose of my strong, brave, caring and loving husband.
He gave his all to his country, he was a great patriot, a loving son and my darling love.
I'm sure their are many more wives like me that on this day are spending it at cemeteries crying.
So I'm asking on this Memorial Day (tomorrow) please remember all our Military, our veterans of all wars and those who serviced. We live in a country where men and women volunteer to give their lives up for you, we are truly a country of the Brave who ensure we are free.
GOD BLESS OUR MEN AND WOMAN WHO GIVE THEIR ALL EVERY DAY FOR ALL OF US!
GOD BLESS THE USA.

Kudos. My veteran husband always goes out of his way to thank servicemen, past or present, for their service. They beam from ear to ear. They need more support and encouragement, and appreciation for their sacrifices.
