It seems the best ways of living are right in front of us. I came across this article on Epicurean philosophy and was fascinated to learn that it does not entail "eat, drink, and be merry". It is a smart, sober evaluation of what pleasure or pleasant living really is and ways of achieving this good life.
An overall pretty decent way of looking at things. One thing I did disagree with was the being stoic part, and the claim that no one is self sufficient. My whole life I've been pretty self sufficient and prefer to do things myself. I'm also fairly stoic in the sense I am not overly emotional. I don't suffer from depression either.
