What a journalism student gets that his future colleagues don't...

This article is generous to the “News” Media outlets. He assumes they simply misread the situation. I propose they know full-well they are lying, but the truth wouldn’t fit the narrative they seek to foist upon us. Hence, we don’t trust them and they don’t seem to care they have betrayed our trust. That’s why they are in their final death throws. Good riddance.
I saw, in the article, no evidence of generosity to the News outlets.
@pbuck0145: thank you for calling out my biased read of the article. After rereading the article from your perspective, I agree with your assessment. I was taking small snippets from the last 1/3 of the article to “prove my perspective”. (e.g. The problem was, the media didn’t know ... Of course, that’s because they don’t actually know... So, they just fill in the gaps with their own mindreading.).
Honestly, I think the article was right on track. I don’t believe he was saying they were doing it unintentionally. On the contrary, he was gently chiding them for doing just what I was doing (i.e. seeking evidence to prove my perspective where none exists)
Well done with your comment! I’ll try to do better.
