Well, while I think its foolishness, I think there’s something to be said for a rule like that.
Not safety ... no ... but this stands out; “is her intention to amend the bill to merely mandate minimum staffing levels at gas stations.”
New Jersey has LOTS of young (and not so young) people employed at “pumping gas” AND also has one of tge lowest gas prices out there ...
Heck, as a kid I had several jobs pumping gas or diesel. It paid minimum wage but ... so what? The jobs were easy and available.
AND ... I learned how to earn tips by providing “service” (check your oil, ma-am? Let me get your windshield ...)
What I find that’s weird is that “Service Stations” became “Gas Stations” where, if you’re lucky, you can find a squeegee with fluid on it to clean your own windshield ... or maybe a quart of oil or a gallon of windshield washer fluid ... even in New Jersey where the “attendants” simply stuff the nozzle in the tank and collect whatever form of payment.
