Healthy communities are safe communities, and the way to create healthy communities is to invest in those core needs that all communities have such as educational opportunities, job opportunities, jobs, home ownership, affordable home ownership and housing. Those are the things that create healthy communities which are, by definition, safe communities.

I agree with all of that, Kamala - except that you missed a crucial item - well trained, well equipped, and yes, well funded law enforcement. That is a 100% indispensable part of the development of those healthy communities you speak of!

Once you have a healthy community in place you may be able to pull back on the law enforcement budget a little bit, because it requires less law enforcement activity to maintain a healthy community than to develop one. You can't get these communities to where you claim you want them to be with this reactionary "defund the police" rubbish!
