The foundation of Russia is in Ukraine. Ukraine was a play toy of many European and Asian powers from the end of the Mongol reign to the fall of the Russian empire. The people of Ukraine are a mixture of Norse, Slavic, Ayran, Semitic and Greek people who migrated into the region over the centuries. Ukraine is the place where the Skandic people met and traded with the Mediterranean nations. Ukraine was the battleground where Europe and Asia fought for control of the land mass. Is it any wonder that there is confusion about the Ukrainian national identity?
