During 2002 when the SARS pandemic broke out, my sister was an ICU nurse with a major children's hospital in Toronto. All medical staff were aware at the time that the vast majority of those affected with SARS were Chinese. We knew then that the virus was targeted to Chinese DNA. Those who weren't Chinese had blood family who were.
