“Mercenaries do not have the right to use the status of prisoners of war under the Geneva Convention (adopted on August 12, 1949 in order to protect the victims of the war, they are not subject to various kinds of concessions. This is a special category. They kill people for hire, voluntarily, for money. As for Ukraine, the mercenaries came there on their own, no one called them, they are citizens of a foreign country.

The hiring of mercenaries is illegal under international law and the punishment for being a mercenary under that code is death.
