When labor unions first began in the 19th century, they were local controlled and local run. The end of the union owes its origin in the formation of the AFL and the CIO, and then the two combined. That much power in one organization is like an unlocked candy store in the neighborhood of a school with no one on site. Megalomaniac narcissists had to take control. It was in their DNA. After that the union members served the leadership of the union and not the other way around as it was sold to them.

Sad but true.
