It cannot be understated how it is considered normal by the CCP to tell big lies and use another lie to up the previous. Lie upon lie, this is very different from the west.
Deceit – which is I can twist the fabric of reality in my favor for my individual wants and I can get away with it which goes along with pride and arrogance.
Arrogance – which is I already know enough

I have heard that too as an explanation for making gigantic lies post being caught "I had no choice". Its lame by normal standards but you will hear it a lot in China.
