The 1963 Chrysler Turbine, a concept car. I saw it at the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, New York.

It's look was somewhat similar to the 1963 Dodge Dart, which my family owned and I learned to drive on in 1967, 3-speed on the column. Our Dart had the Slant 6 engine, still fondly remembered by some.

Back in the good old days, a car felt like a castle. Like a battleship. Like the starship Enterprise. Classic cars were as spacious as the Tardis. You could cruise around America like Odysseus cruised around the Aegean Sea. Lots of classic American movies feature a car cruising around America.

And we lost it. We gave it up for dumb things like fuel economy and aerodynamics.

I once owned a Saab. What a glorious car. Last of the boxy cars. In a car with an aerodynamic cabin it's hard to see. It's easy to see out of a boxy Saab cabin.

Leftists say that humans should sacrifice themselves for the Earth.

I say bull. The essence of being human is to use your fancy brain for synergy, to make things better for both humans and the Earth. Leftists are so uncreative.

The American classic muscle car is a triumph of humanity, of humans mastering the Earth.

My dad's 71 Chrysler 300 was a battleship alright. 440 power and a great road car. Inspired my lifelong love for Mopars of all kinds. A 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 is presently hibernating in my garage awaiting nice weather to once again roar it's defiance.
