Should the IDW create a new transnational political party, with Jordan Peterson running for Canadian PM, Ben Shapiro running for US President and Carl Benjamin running for British PM? We need more facts and logic in politics!
As much as I’d like to see this idea come to fruition I doubt that Peterson would run, he can achieve far more outside the political shambles that are currently at play, Shapiro just “might” have a crack after Trump takes the next election though, would that be 2024?
That sounds more like a vote for a cult of personality rather than a viable political party. One of the problems with a third party is that it would not have a lot of political capital and would find it incredibly hard to get legislation passed. Who, of like mind, would the people of the IDW get to run their campaigns? Who would they place in their cabinets? Who in congress would they rely on to push forward their agendas? You can look to the "Reform Party" founded by Ross Perot to get a real world example of how this would play out.
I think that the people of the IDW are in the positions that they need to be in. We need to affect a cultural change from the bottom up that will inform the actions of the politicians via their constituents. That, I admit, probably isn't the ideal path, however, I believe that it is probably the most pragmatic. Forming a third party to do battle with the entrenched and wealthy establishment would be a vastly greater uphill battle than effecting some large amount of cultural change, and with the added detriment of special interest money and political jockeying likely coming into play. It just doesn't sound like a good idea, to me.
Or maybe the IDW should takeover the Libertarian Party, and see where things go from there?
Once upon a time, the Republican Party was a third party. I truly believe the time is right for a third party. I find it increasingly difficult to vote for either Republicans or Democrats. I long for a party that puts principle ahead of politics. I wanted the Libertarian Party to be that party, I felt there was too much of single issue politics assigned to that party. I am still actively searching.
You and I are thinking the same thing...
I don't know about Canada or the UK, but a third party in America doesn't really have a chance at all. They won't be in any debates or get any coverage to get name recognition. The USA establishment makes sure that they control the media and keep the choices to the two they deem acceptable.
The spineless jellyfish from both extremes will not silence my voice. The Libertarians will continue spreading their principles around in public...
@SpikeTalon hear, hear!
We have already taken steps in this direction. His name is Maxime Bernier, and he just formed the The People’s Party of Canada. And he's no upstart, he was a contender for the leader of the official oppositiion federal Conservative Party, came second, isn't happy with the direction of the party, and left to form his own. This guy is bad-ass and he stands behind his principles.
Go MAD MAX!
