How do you guys feel about litter problems, and how often we take action to remove it.
I think there are two distinct points that need to be addressed - discouraging those who litter and encouraging people to clean up. I don't think the whole "$1,000 Fine for Littering - enforced" works all that well. Perhaps if it were vigorously enforced and people knew it - might get some traction.
As for cleaning it up I think a combination of "community service" sentences and volunteer action would probably bring better results - but again, it would need to actually be created with enthusiasm.
They are of minor significance. What we should focus on is government honesty and accountability, compound interest and land ownership. Sort those put and people will happily throw their rubbish in the bin. Happiness and contentment deters bad behavior
Inmates should be cleaning it.
Be out with a prison guard, gives them potential for early release, or lifers in solitary confinement can be given the humanity of seeing the light of day and give something back to the community.
Would save the economy millions and ease pressure on these over crowded prisons.
