Do you think weed should be legalized? What are your thoughts on restrictions, and what the money will go to, etc.

I have always advocated legalization of marijuana. Rather than research the positive aspects of medicinal marijuana, the drug companies focused on opioids, which have devastated thousands of families.

Wholeheartedly believe that we should decriminalize drugs both in the US and UK. I can't accept that weed is illegal, it's a plant for God's sake. It's shocking that it can come with such a heavy punishment.

Yes, placing restrictions on something will not make it go away, and government should not even get involved in a personal choice such as smoking marijuana. For what it's worth, I've never gotten involved in recreational drug usage and most likely never will, but still think other people should be free to make that choice for themselves.

It's already legal right across Canada. There has been no significant uptick in crime related to legalization. There is still a significant illegal trade because the gov't wants too much. All-in-all it's been a smooth transition. So, yes, legalize it down south so we can sell across the border.

I personally don't like marijuana, and I don't think it's harmless, but from the data I've seen it doesn't seem like the drug war in the U.S. has done anything to help solve the problem.

Where are the studies about affects on young people, how legalisation affects accidents, brain function etc. Drugs need respect, daily use to control mood not the best idea in my opinion. Decriminalisation and legalisation are two different things. Marijuana alters your thinking, for me a sense of calm and self acceptance settles over me, but I can’t really string a sensible sentence together as I forget what my point is. It has been useful for periods of depression and anxiety in my life as it was the only time I felt I wasn’t beset by demons but I remained careful as I had a job and family to look after. Great anxiety and stress controller but not so good for advancing in life. Others personal experiences? I don’t like any other drugs or alcohol.

A government that legalises weed wants a compliant, non protesting happy population. Wake up people, and protect young brains from the proven harm of dope...

Weed should be legalized on the state level, but this decision should fall on the states. However, it needs to be decriminalized on a federal level. While I am not a user of marijuana I have watched and listened to this debate since I was a child and cannot fathom how our government (most states and federal) is okay with not only the legalization but also the massive media attention alcohol gets while simultaneously keeping pot illegal. All legalization does is allow for a state regulated business (ability to control the substance being sent out on the streets) while allowing the high taxes from it to be put back onto the system. This also will help to remove the potential for harmful street drugs laced inside of the pot.

Being from Texas my first though is put that money right back into the school system.

I would agree with your decriminalization thought, except for one thing. THe Federal category for MJ right now is the same one used for hard narcotics with "No proven Medical benefit" where as alcohol and tobacco do not carry this stigma. All kinds of research show MJ to have a plethora of medical uses already. And as States decide to legalise it, many health agencies are seeing this to not be true. This is not to say it is necessarily completely safe because its not. But can't it be agreed with whats already know it does have uses outweighing the dangers when used in moderation?

we all know pot has a bad rap because big pharma can't make millions...Billions on growing a natural weed. I don't smoke but after 30 years fire department I can assure you Alcohol and hard drugs have screwed up way more people than pot. I really is only being decriminalized now in some states because now that states are paying for socialized medicine they are hoping you choose weed over costly prescriptions. All about the money. You don't believe socialized health care is killing people. READ THIS....WE IN FIRE SERVICE MEDICAL RESPONCE TO YOU THE PUBIC CAN NO LONGER TRANSPORT CARDIAC ARREST VICTIMS TO EMERGENCY ROOM!!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!!! WE HAVE TO DO CPR AND IF WE DONT GET A CARDIAC RYTHIM BACK YOU ARE DEAD IN FIELD. THIS IS COAST TO COAST!!! SO A EMT WITH 6 MONTHS OF MEDICAL TRAINING IS ALL THE MEDICAL CARE YOU ASS IS GETTING. THIS IS IN ALL NEW STANDING ORDERS. OUR PHYSICIAN ADVISOR SAYS IT WILL SAVE GOVERNMENT BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR. SORRY IM SCREAMING....lol I left cap lock on...so godamn sad 😟

I don't care about the product itself, I just HATE the smelly smoke that comes out of it. It STINKS (same for cigarettes).
Laws about where you're allowed to smoke so that other non-smokers don't have to suffer you are totally legit.

It's proven to be no more harmful than alcohol, AND THE REAL REASON is we need to stop the black market sales of marijuana from funding further illegal activity. The gangsters & drug dealers don't put their marijuana sales into their retirement fund. It finds other illegal activity like guns, sex trade etc . Just look at what the prohibition did ...it created Al Capone from the proceeds.

First it's a plant stop calling it a drug. You manufacturer drugs you grow marijuana. Just like cucumbers and tomatoes. As a believer in mother nature its no debate. You can't band what grows own this planet. Example of civilization stupidity you worry about a animal becoming extinct but you ban a plant . Why ? We now why. Because someone didn't like it so they played god and said they knew better than mother nature. Bears kill people now one says ban bears. It's moronic we even have to have this discussion.

I get what you're saying, but to be fair a "drug" is really any substance that has a measurable physiological effect on the body. Cannabis certainly falls under that definition in the same way Acetaminophen and Opium would.

LMAO so alchol is a drug then. Some food cause changes too so is foods now a drug. This is what I am talking about you . How about that toad you lick to get high so frogs are drugs too? You logic is so broad you can call almost anything a drug. You are the reason it's ilegal. You try to control the way others live.

THC, CBD, these are a couple of the drugs within the cocktail of substances in weed. Opium is a drug (refined, it's heroin), also nicotine, and even caffeine. And yes, alcohol is definitely a drug. Drugs have myriad effects, and come from innumerable sources.

I just don't care.

Already legal in Canada however, I have been a medical user for a little over rwo years. I use Marijuana primarily for pain control, and to aid in sleep. I've never really had an issue with legalized Weed. I believe it has great potential to help people and even recreatoonal use I see as on par with alcohol.

It would eliminate the need for weed from other countries. It would cut down on prison population. Maybe their would be less people drinking alcohol and driving . Would help people with medical problems that Marijuana eases
The taxes the government puts on the sales should go to education and veterans.

Canabis has medicinal properties, is available for use in its raw, unprocessed form, can be used for a variety of applications other than recreationally (oils & textiles are the most common), it can be grown naturally, and it is non-toxic. Compare that with the 'last legal drug' and all of the problems that it carries with it. The real questions are "Why isn't it legal?" and "Why shouldn't it be legal?"

I am in Canada. It is now legalised and government controlled much like alcohol. There is, as to be expected, a bit of an awkward adjustment period. But I think we are better for it.

I believe all drugs (not just pot) should be legalized. I'd rather have drug addicts get their drugs from a pharmacist than from someone who made it in their bathtub or laced that pot with something stronger.
