In the pro-life, pro-choice debate, at what point do you feel the abortion option should go away in a pregnancy?

In BC abortions are not allowed past 16 weeks. I'm not sure what biological reason there is for that arbitrary number, but I agree with it. There are no restrictions on the reasons a woman, or girl, might seek an abortion. Absolutely, a rape victim, or incest victim MUST be able to choose. Past 16 weeks I think you need to have a pretty good reason to want to abort your child, though I believe in Canada a non-viable fetus can be aborted past that time frame. Make a number, be consistent and don't allow the scuttlebutt about abortion to be played out anywhere except the churches. They have a right to clutch pearls if they so wish, but their right ends there in dictacting terms for others.

At conception. If you aren't prepared to face the consequences of your actions you shouldn't be doing them. I really don't think there should even be exceptions to this. If you raped that is sad but doesn't mean you get to murder someone. I personally think it should be illegal even if the mothers life is in danger: it's natural selection and God at work. God doesn't make mistakes.

The reason I would select rape and incest as exceptions is that in this case the mother did not have a choice. The prolonged trauma would be extended, causing har to the mother. I would place the lack of choice of the mother over the lack of choice of the baby.
Having said that, outside of rape and incest, the mother did make a choice - even if a poor choice. In this case the lack of choice of the baby should take precident.

Maximum 90 days. No excuse for waiting any longer than this.

At conception.

This is a moot point as far as I'm concerned, because if and when a woman is determined to abort all the anti-abortion laws will be ineffective once a woman takes matters into her own hands. I'm reminded of the gun debate, and same is true there, doesn't matter how many gun control laws are passed as criminals have no regard for the laws, hence such legislation is pointless in my opinion. You can make laws making abortion illegal after a certain point in the pregnancy, but that doesn't mean everyone would follow such laws.

My preference at conception - with the exception of rape, incest, or the threatening of the life of the mother. However, I understand that the pragmatic approach is needed for realistic compromises. To at least improve on where we are, I would recommend that it stops at the point of viability of the baby - with the exception of threat to the life of the mother.

Use of taxpayers' dollars should go away at conception except for life-or-death consequences to mother. People who wish to financially support abortion should be able to do so, but outside of Federal taxation of people ethically opposed..

As far as abortion becoming a state crime---yes, that's possibly acceptable for the third trimester, but arguable for earlier. Will always be difficult and controversial topic.
