Why is it the IDW is only worried about free speech when it comes to college kids with blue hair ???

Where is the outrage over the Border Patrol detaining & interrogations of journalists & advocates at the border , the GOP passing legislation on behalf oil interests to mitigate protests against their projects , & the presidents constant attacks on the 4th Estate ???

So....not sure what the blue hair thing means. But let's address the fact you think the press is a government 4th estate. The press was supposed to bring factual info with no bias. For example....a bus crashes on i65 today. Instead its "A bus crashed on i65 snd it shows the lack of school bus maintenance money due to Trump reducing all schools bus money'"

His addressing the Press for their fake news has pulled them up short and exposed the problem. More importantly, it's a check and balance on the 4th Estate

Did you assume my gender?

Try to focus , big boy & look up the word "evidence" ...

Are you saying that's an ad hominem ??? LoL ...

That's not an ad hominem ... I addressed your argument & I didn't dismiss yours simply because you're a big boy ...

[yourlogicalfallacyis.com]

@BodhiJones777 so now you're calling me fat?!?

No point in offering any "evidence", as if this were a court of law. BodhiJones777 dismisses anything disagreed with as "no true Scotsman", and engages in ad hominem.

Where is the outrage over liberals flouting immigration laws?

Where did I employ a "No True Scotsman" or an ad hominem ??? Are you clear on what those things ???

Where is the outrage over liberals flouting immigration laws ??? Do you want to clarify what you're talking about or give some examples ???

I could give you evidence of an invisible dragon on my shoulder but you would dismiss it ... Now Mike, we both know that's a desperate cop out to save face & delude yourself ...

Why are lawyers and others lining up to help people who would otherwise be unable to enter get in?

It's a voter registration drive.

Evidence? Democrats passing voting rules that don't require citizenship to vote.

If illegals typically voted conservative you'd be able to see the wall from the Moon.

Wow !!! That was a super awesome point ... But I'm not sure how your partisanship plays into this & I'm not sure how it justifies detaining advocates & journalists ...

Some lawyers actually have a moral compass & given the recent U.S. backed right wing coup in Honduras, there's probably a lot of people who have valid asylum claims ... And given Trump's lunacy over the border , they're likely to get fucked ...

Try to focus , big boy & look up the word "evidence" ...

Ok, honestly couldn't less about blue haired kids, border patrol is doing their job under extreme pressure, but if they engaging in activities not in their job description then they should be investigated/prosecuted if they are found to have behaved badly. Not sure what you mean about the oil interests and protests, but as for Trump, well, I'm from the UK. Politicians are extremely hard on the press for their blatant disregard for facts over feelings here. And really, at least he's not tapping journalist's phones like Obama did.

“Where is the Outrage...?”
People like you can bring up all the outrage you want ...
WE get to respond or not to your “Outrage” ...
... Free Speech ...
YOU Say Whatever YOU Want
And WE Respond as Freely as WE Want ...
Or Not ...

Incorrect premise. Contributors to the IDW are concerned about freedom of speech everywhere.

No doubt ...

I think real journalists should be protected. Propagandists deserve whatever they create in their world. I presume by President, you are referring to Trump, and I don't see him attacking real journalists, only repeaters.
Not on the US at the present, and unfamiliar with GOP legislation.

And who determines who is a real journalist ??? I'm guessing real journalists are the ones you agree with ...

@BodhiJones777 How do you think your uninformed comment, which appears to be an attempt at a personal attack, elevates this conversation ?

The president is just as free to express his opinion as anyone else is. As long as he isn't using government force to silence media outlets, he's within the bounds of the law. Furthermore, they would have a much easier time fighting off the accusation of being the 'enemy of the people' if they weren't caught so often misrepresenting situations and lying outright to the American public.

Within the bounds of the law is irrelevant ... Disdain from positions of power directed at American institutions that are crucial to democracy & freedom are problematic at best ...

But hey , thanks for not addressing anything & focusing on Trump apologetics instead ...

@BodhiJones777
Thanks for playing “Stupid”
Stupid ...

@BodhiJones777 You listed a number of issues in your post. I chose one to respond to, namely "the presidents constant attacks on the 4th Estate". Your dismissive sarcasm marks you as an asshole.

Assuming, perhaps foolishly, that you don't intend to continue being an asshole, I'll reply anyway:

"Within the bounds of the law" is the only thing that is relevant, because every person in this country has the right to speak their mind.

The media has a single function- to tell the people what is going on. When they lie(Chris Cuomo, CNN: "Remember, it's illegal to possess, uh, these stolen documents. It's different for the media. So everything you learn about this, you're learning from us." ), or when they deceptively edit and misrepresent statements and situations(

), they aren't fulfilling their sole function. The "news" they're pushing is, definitionally, fake.

Does that make them our enemy? That depends on what you define as an enemy. They're not trying to cause anyone physical harm. They are, however, attempting to advance toward the goal of deposing the president of the United States. The only way they can achieve this goal is to mislead the public into believing that Trump is some kind of ancient evil. Is someone who lies and misrepresents facts to you in order to manipulate your opinions your enemy?

The American people elected Donald Trump. The news media, rather than telling the facts, are attempting to convince the American people that either they should support the effort to remove him from office, or, failing that, that they shouldn't elect him again by lying and misrepresenting and then blaming him for the incidents about which they lied and misrepresented.

@El_Zo1212o Wow. That was more patient and thorough than I would have been. Thanks.

@Penrodster Yeah, I get that way sometimes.

"Advocates" who coach illegal immigrants how to abuse the asylum system should be prosecuted and thrown in jail. Real asylum seekers will be paying the penalty for this corruption. Passing legislation is what elected officials get to do. If you have a specific bill and position, please post. Verbal attacks against people who buy ink by the barrel should be foolish. The idea that the leftist media needs protection from verbal assaults is a weak argument. Now if the president were seizing phone records from reporters or investigating them as co-conspirators in news leaks...

Do you have any evidence of advocates doing anything you claim??? What should they be charged with ??? What constitutes the "leftist" media ??? Are you claiming billion dollar corporate conglomerates are leftists ??? LoL ...

@BodhiJones777 I have read and also seen news reports that there are attorneys and various other organizations at the border to aid illegal immigrants in gaining access to funding, access to free attorneys and other aid to get them into the USA. Why are there so many people ready to donate their time and money to assist people in entering this country illegally?

@BodhiJones777 advocates are actively aiding and abetting individuals during the commission of a crime.

Of course advocates are doing this. These are the ones that were caught and charged with fraud.

@Mike9465 Evidence please ... Your empty assertions are empty assertions ...

@RobBlair ... Your first article is about Iraqis ... Your next two cover immigration fraud cases ... The last is an asylum fraud case ... These people weren't advocates ... They were frauds out to make a few dollars from desperate people ...

It's a logical fail to believe that some lawyers doing something = all lawyers doing something all time ...

Aid to illegal immigrants in gaining access to funding, access to free attorneys & other aid to get them into the USA is not illegal ...

Now that we've addressed the advocates , what is the super reason for detaining & watching journalists ???

@BodhiJones777 definition of "advocate", one who speaks for, definition of "illegal immigrants", those attempting to enter the United States ILLEGALLY.

No other evidence necessary.

If you're persecuted and trying to escape oppression, come and state your case, and be prepared to prove it, and be prepared to possibly be denied entry. No one has a "right" to enter.

@Mike9465 Uhmmmm , that's not the definition of advocate ...

ad·vo·cate
noun
/?adv?k?t/Submit

  1. a person who publicly supports or recommends a particular cause or policy.

But I'm glad you clarified that you have zero evidence to support your absurd claim ...

Thanks for playing ...

@BodhiJones777 - NBC news states that 9 people on the list were arrested. If only we had journalists to report on why they were arrested? At this point its all speculative and one sided until we get an official statement from the government.

@RobBlair Well, you can't have journalists reporting when they're getting arrested ... Isn't it at all problematic to you that there's a list of people who have committed no crimes beyond simply holding a different position on what's become a political issue ???

Certainly , nothing fascisty about that , right ???

@BodhiJones777 there is no functional difference between the definition I gave and the one you copied and pasted. Therefore, you are still wrong.

Supporting or recommending that illegals be granted entry is promoting illegal acts.

BTW, your snark will be more welcome on another forum. Try Twitter or something.

Peace out.

@Mike9465 What am I wrong about ??? You're assuming that all asylum seekers are trying to enter illegally ... That's simply not the case ... People trying to enter illegally have no use for an a advocate ...

Why are you avoiding the journalists ??? Why all the focus on advocates when you have no clue who or what they're advocating for ???

@BodhiJones777 I'm assuming nothing of the sort. Are you assuming everyone who shows up at the border both deserves asylum and is incapable of articulating that to authorities?

I love blue hair! Need references as to the rest. 🙂

@BodhiJones777 This is kind of a mixture of news. The press doesn't like Trump and they never report anything good that he's done. So, it's kind of baiting on both sides. Not real oppression. Otherwise they'd be in jail or deported.

@AlexisS It's not a mixture ... There's a source there for everything you questioned ... Whether the media kisses Trump's ass or not is irrelevant to the topic at hand ... The fact remains that Trump makes constant attacks on the 4th Estate which is a crucial pillar of freedom & democracy ... If you know your history , you know it's the first step in the creation of a fascist regime ... See Pinochet , Suharto , Putin , & Hitler ... The Trumpanzee battle cry of "fake news" translates perfectly to "lugenpresse"...

@BodhiJones777 ...?
THOSE are “Your Reference Sources”?
I have to hand it to you ...
You’re smarter than I thought ...
At least you can READ ...
You simply RELY on STUPID Sources

@Bay0Wulf They're not my reference sources ... They are reference sources ... If you think there's something incorrect in them , refute them ... But don't be lazy & flirt with a genetic fallacy ...

@BodhiJones777
You offer them as reference sources ...
If they’re NOT your reference sources then why would YOU offer them?
Ergo ... they’re YOUR reference sources ...
