Jordan Peterson has recently had his invitation, to Cambridge University, revoked. As a 'FREE' member of the United Kingdoms society, this has surprised me more than anything in the mob lead leftist rule that is continuing to plague our culture. Restricting free speech in one of the most prestigious universities ever seems to me to be a defining moment in this political war. Thoughts?

I support the let-then-speak attitude, but I note that free speech is not denied just because a specific institution does not want to host a talk. Peterson has lots of other avenues to express his views and I believe he has. He still can climb on a soapbox or rent an auditorium and say his piece.

Universities, "a free exchange of ideas", I don't think so not any more. I was disgusted but not surprised when Jordans Cambridge university invitation was revoked, another nail in the coffin of free speech. The safe space victimhood continues while universities churn out non robust progressive left wing indoctrinated sheep. Professor Jordan is the antidote only if he is allowed a platform..

Yes the Leftists are very vocal in their condemnation of anyone that they feel doesn't follow their dogma. Free Speech is definitely under threat in Western Countries. Groups such as ANTIFA protest against alleged Right Wingers. Strange how they are using what the are supposed to abhor violence and intimidation to disrupt the rights of others to Free Speech.

It seems to me that this is indeed a watershed moment in the growing cultural divide between Academia and the leftist liberal elites vs. the other 80% of Western society who identifies with Dr. JBP and his message of personal responsibility and the life meaning it brings..I don't believe there is more than 20% of the population who are truly adherents of neo-Marxist Critical Theiry which tyrannically controls our Western institutions..where a minority of opressed opressor virtue signalling mobsters rules the day a la Cambridge...We need to stand up, be heard and resist intellectual bullying by these folks..

Agreed. If a place like Cambridge can make such a powerful statement based on a political opinion what is next for all other institutions which allow free speech and the exchange of ideas. His message really hit home with me. I was addicted to hard drugs (Cocaine, MDMA, Ketamine, Psychedelics (not as hard), Weed, Alcohol, tobacco and everything else that was mixed with them that i didn't know about) from the ages of 15-18. Listening to JP and everyone else in the IDW was the only thing that gave me any real hope for the future as they provided me with the framework and knowledge of the world which lead me to a better life. I turned 19 in september, have been clean from everything except weed and occasionally alcohol for a year and 3 months and am now living and working in London (300 miles from home in the North of England) and my life has never been better.

Restricting this sort of information exchange to people who want and potentially need it is just a wrong move. Yes, everyone who wants to be involved with it has all of the opportunity to through the internet, YouTube, Facebook etc. But not allowing something which is as undeniably helpful as the work people like JP and everyone else is doing just seems childish and unproductive.

Situations like this have created such a divide between truth and whatever you want to call what people like this are doing such that standing up, having a voice and fighting back is going to happen at some point. I am totally ready to stand by anyone who is up for fighting in the name of our 'side' whenever this battle really gets going. Hopefully it just isn't too late by the time that happens. Arguably it is?

Asa UK national, I am embarrassed that this action has been taken by one of our two most prestigious universities. Jordan did speak at the Oxford Union Debating Society (not the same as the students' union). I just hope they don't follow suit!

Yep, his address at Oxford was awesome. And to see this coming from such a place of intellectual influence is laughable. Seems all too common for people who spout truthful, helpful, knowledge to be silenced and thrown under the bus. I think the truth and what is right will prevail in the end. The question is though to what cost?

Sorry for you.
You think that the UK is “Free”? Seriously, it has only brushed tentatively against that though process at any time.
As far as what Cambridge is doing ... it’s no surprise ...
Here in the USofA we’re really not doing much better ... and we’re allegedly “Freer” that you poor sots have ever been.

You're right, the UK has a facade of freedom but it is very clear how our laws stop us from reaching that. This whole PC Culture is, i think, only just starting to kick off as bad over here as you lot have had it in America. Will be interesting to see what Brexit does to that.

So, Cambridge has started it's descent on the same virtue signaling path of irrelevance as the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Of all the people to try to demonize...

It's insanity. To truly sit and listen to anything Jordan Peterson has put out and take -anything- negative away from it has to be some form of serious sensory depriving insanity.

Agreed. There used to be an honest and lively debate between the left and the right. That is over. The left seeks to silence any contrary thought. There will be no debate. You will be neutralized, silenced, rendered unemployed Or jailed.

I still think this is the start of an intellectual renaissance. More and more people are noticing these rifts in our societies and trying to bridge them on a small community scale where they can. They just need to keep seeing that their efforts are hard-won and long term. We can't afford expediency in this era at the expense of what it is that makes us a species capable of unfathomable and indomitable unity.
