For what it's worth, however, I for one do not see Australia as "scared and submissive." After all, those people were protesting despite what they knew could happen to them. Also, I don't know that such things as were depicted in that video are country wide events anyway. Perhaps an Australian citizen here could fill me in better.

It might not be how we want to be seen but all this is pretty accurate reporting. It was mostly in the cities but now it's moving into regional areas. In rural N.S.W. only one person from a household can go shopping for food and you must sign in to every place you go indoors.
