I’m really struggling with health problems, family crisis, off sick for 5 months now so financial problems. I’m that lobster with the new, INFERIOR brain!!! I’m thinking of getting a group together to integrate The 12 steps into our lives because I just can’t do it alone. I found JP’s 12 step book very discouraging. It’s TOO MUCH TRUTH!! The truth hurts. Any feedback? Reframe? Encouragement?
Life is full of peaks and valleys. Suffering isn't easy or fun but much like the refining furnace it burns off the dross and leaves a better purer version of what we truly were meant to be.
Try looking at the difficulties in your life as an opportunity for growth. Bit of a cliché’ I know but sometimes it’s true.
And if that fails try, some Kentucky bourbon…
She's talking about 12 steps... Jim Beam is usually what got us here, but he ain't gonna take us home. I too am powerless over alcohol. Accepting that fact was the beginning of the story.
@HaHaJohnnyB she's referering to Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for life. Hence the lobster referance.Had it been a statement in regards to recovery I would omitted the last line.
I was talking about the 12 steps and the material in JP's book. The 12 steps of AA are quite effective as well, but I'm up for trying something new.
....and now I can't stop thinking about Kentucky Bourbon
@Elizabethrose My apologies for not understanding your reference. I am familiar with the 12 steps and I certainly wouldn’t advocate for relapse.
Life will put you through the grinder for sure, but in the end all we can really do is the next right thing and keep going.
Hope things get better for you and yours….and I sincerely doubt you’re anything like that lobster
Ultimately JBPs point is simple:
The trick is to understand the complex aspect:
Of course, the hyper-dimensional levels of purpose apply to your hyper-dimensional levels of meaning as well, for example, your family is a level of your purpose and you are a level of purpose for your parts. And also, the hyper-dimensional levels of meaning apply to your hyper-dimensional levels of purpose as well, for example, you and your family members are the meaning of your family, and your family is part of the meaning of your neighborhood.
See, it's not so difficult to understand. The trick, however, is to serve your purpose on as many greater levels as possible while at the same time guiding your meaning on as many lesser levels as possible. This is what JBP refers to when he aligns his hands vertically, like adjacent guitar strings resonating when only one is picked: resonance of multiple hyper-dimensions. One won't resonate with all hyper-dimensions, obviously, but one could do so with 3-5 greater and lesser hyper-dimensions. Even that would be rare, I imagine.
It could be that some of those who achieve global elite status are resonating on multiple hyper-dimensions, but because some of the particular greater, or lesser, dimensions they resonate with are inverted, unbalanced, and isolated from greater hyper-dimensions, they ultimately implode or collapse.
Thank you for taking the time to offer and share this!! Your words actually gave me a new angle to look at. "Connection' is something I grapple with. I think if everyone got your above concepts there would be less suicide. When I get lost in despair and suicidal thoughts pop up, it's possible that I'm feeling too isolated and focused on only the problems. The problems seem overwhelming and I have trouble with the simplest decisions. I then judge myself harshly and get discouraged. Its like tunnel vision. Forget to look at the bigger picture and I get in trouble. So your words do help me to see things more clearly. We are all vitally important! We are all connected! WE MATTER!!!!
