JBP shared this excellent Quilette article on communism and historical amnesia. I think only one person on my FB has read it. I do worry about our future.

[The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.]- Milan Kundra. Thanks for sharing the article, truth to power.

Yes, a very well written article. Back in the real old days the invading hordes would ride into town, kill the populace, burn the books and take all the portable assets. Hard to remember what no longer exists, let the archeology sort the ruins. Now we start to understand the irony of those in progressive social and political movements. We must leave the past and make the present into the future, beyond the pale of the influence of a "dead" past. To remember is to live in the past. Come comrades, we must keep our eyes fixed on the glorious future, we must cast off the old and embrace the new. And when we get there.....when we get there we hall all be happy.

On the topic of communism and historical amnesia I suggest you read Clive James seminal work "Cultural Amnesia". This is the best book I have read in more than 10 years.

I will look for it, thanks!

Knowledge of something does no good without corrective action....

I read that, very good article,. It's weird how technology is being used against us. No more book burning, things just get erased. No one notices at the time, except for the few people who liked this or that person. Too much info is a tool that is used like a knife, cut away all those weird accusations, destroy that person, too many conflicting opinions, it's easier and simpler to bury that person. The computer is a lethal weapon.

The ingratitude present today is an example of our country's historical ignorance. We are so blessed that we are spoiling. Everyone needs to look at their own country and ask "why have we done so well?"

Historical amnesia aside, it’s stupefying how despite numerous modern examples of the illustrative failure of communism/socialism there still exists large numbers of imbeciles willing to give it another go.
