What is the meaning of Nazi? Just to refresh my mind, I keep having to look up the definition when I hear different references to being a "Nazi". Often it seems to me that it's more defined to the group or person shouting abuses than to the people receiving the abuse.
Who are the Nazis?
The word Nazi is short for Nationalsozialist (supporter of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) in the German language. This means "National Socialist German Workers' Party".
- A Nazi is one who is likened to a German Nazi : a harshly domineering, dictatorial, or intolerant person
- with that goes Fascist: often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

A Nazi or a Racist or a bigot are the names that someone is called when they are in the process of winning a discussion with a tolerant, kind, compassionate, inclusive Leftie. For an American Liberal, a Nazi is defined as anyone who dares disagree with their alt Left political positions or anyone who has beliefs to the Right of Karl Marx. I guess that would include all of us.

It's basically lost it's true meaning and is just used as a generic insult. The same could be said of "twat" or "bugger".
It also makes most decent people recoil, have the wind taken out of their sails and put on the defensive. Thereby changing the level of debate. Especially used when the user can see they are losing the argument. It's pathetic but is a tactic promoted by Saul Alinsky - play the man not the ball!

A Nazi is what one calls someone when they cannot counter an argument. In modern day terms it means someone who was successful in a debate. They will use this name to bait a person in defending themselves rather than continue with the discussion.

I don't think actual liberals call other people Nazi for disagreeing with them. Real liberals value free speech and the rough and tumble of different ideas in debate. What we are seeing now from the Left is not liberal. It is literally fascist (I know that's a problematic word, but I think it's accurate -- the fusion of government and street mobs to silence speech like Mussolini's Blackshirts is an indicator).
The people from my neck of the woods wholeheartedly proclaim anybody wearing a MAGA hat is a Nazi, and that we should punch Nazis. The hate from this group is very real.
