Brutal? Yeah. But, do you think any other father in the animal kingdom thinks differently?
Babies are born savages. We have only a few years to civilize them so that other humans will like them. Because if they don't the kids will be miserable -- and end up hurting others. That is a bad job of parenting.
Non-family will give no warning.
