My personal worst is Follett. Hundreds for the book and supplementary CDs, but they won't accept it back for trade if the seal on the CDs are broken. Even then they probably won't take it back, because they want to screw the next schmuck with the cost of a new book.
I'll drive a hundred miles to avoid doing business with Follett.
And they really resist the ebook idea, the book pushers
It would be so easy to keep textbooks up to date, can even be online
But the book pushers would be left behind
The positive side of that scenario is smaller schools that are offering ebooks often look more attractive when the small price is calculated into the tuition.
