My thoughts..
As a Canadian, I will say, based on my own observations, that the glaring difference between UK commonwealth countries like Australia and Canada vs America is that the historical culture of the US is very more more about libertarian principles than their Anglo counterparts. Which explains the much greater divide now that Collectivism is challenging the very fabric of American society and culture. Whereas, here in Canada, as in the UK or Australia, the culture was always based on conforming to an authority or collective, rather than staunch independence and individuality. So, while it may appear to some that we in the commonwealth countries are faring better, the truth is more along the lines that hiding or obscuring our deep differences, anger, and resentment, rather than airing it openly for all to see like the Americans do. And we are much further behind our American counterparts in terms of having the boldness to be so vocal about the issues facing us. Time will bear that out.
Yes, I agree. America is more about individualism and everyone is his own master.
