Ok we get it a large number of users are very critical of islam.

Its understandable, but really the quality of the content you are posting is lackluster.

Repeated stating Muslims are bad isn't bring anything thing of value to the conversation.

Im not saying to shy away from the topic, but we are in a situation to have a platform with purpose that supports actual discussions.

Chillax with the circle drum posting.
Take the time to put forth an idea rather than falling back to screaming into the void.

You have a voice here. Be sure to actually use it.

I agree with CodeNameZebra's point. I don't think he/she's saying to not be critical of Islam, but instead to do it in a thoughtful way. Regurgitating arguments as in depth as standard memes isn't all that insightful.

This guy gets it!

The problem with Islam isn't with Muslims, it's with Islam being a political system and a cultural system that, given a certain critical mass within a society, has proven incompatible with the social systems into which it is introduced.

If you are not critical of Islam you are either not paying attention or don't understand the foundational purpose of religious doctrine. Specific criticisms of Islam include:

  • Killing for apostacy - "Who can be more wicked than one who invent a lie against Allah?" If the death penalty is prescribed for lesser crime, then it stands to reason that it should be imposed for the most "wicked".[thereligionofpeace.com]
  • Killing for homosexuality - "...For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.... And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone)" [thereligionofpeace.com]
  • Subjugation of non-believers - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." [thereligionofpeace.com]

A list of other "bad" things - [thereligionofpeace.com]

The noble quran - [quran.com]

Regarding the current version of the Quran. It is organized by longest book to shortest. It can only be "correctly" understood in the original Arabic. Since it contradicts itself, passages that were written later in life, during Muhammad's conquest, take precedent over the earlier peaceful passages.

In western culture we understand that questioning and doubting is an appropriate discipline for advancing our understanding. Perhaps we should take that as a responsibility?

Well that's the point I was making. You put forth an actually statement that could be challenged.

I was specifically speaking on the mass influx of "Islam and Muslims are evil." Posts happening. Which is about as useful as a 8 year olds detailed report on a Disney movie.

Also Islam was just a specific subject matter selected the overall message is combating the recently high amount of low effort statements.

My friend, you write that Islam is repeatedly criticised. I think you miss the point. Islam is not criticised. Terror in the name of Islam is criticised, sharia law is criticised. Islam as a religion is not criticised - what is done in its name is - and will continue to be - criticised and condemned.

That is one reason I started the group learning the truth with Iman Tawihi and been posting short clips but just laugh is this not worng? To dislike a person and not try to lean something from them for no reason other than?????

Right back at you... call it out when you see it. Challenge the unsubstantiated claim. Ignoring it only encourages it.

Radical Islam is the problem. Simple as that. And that too many moderate Muslims will give the radicals cover is a thing. That has changed some, but it has a ways to go, and, bluntly, we need to encourage that at every opportunity.
I work with a Muslim every day - and he's a great guy with a good family. I have a cousin who married a Muslim and they are great people as well (and he treats her extremely well, not all the weird crap you hear about - partly because she won't put up with it, partly because he's a decent bloke who is an American first, and a Muslim second, not the other way around, so far as I can tell in 20 years of them being married) MOST Muslims are - just like most Christians are, most Jews are, etc etc. Most HUMANS are decent enough - but there are some that are horrific and evil as well.

Sadly, (and again) the culture of Islam gives them some cover - and until they fix it inside, it's going to continue. Don't know if they will or not, but I know that knee-jerk hate of Muslims won't solve it.

I will say that I get that Islam is both religion AND political. And some of my statements towards Islam are directed at the political not the religion. That said, it's more about the structures not individuals. Same thing with the way the Catholic Church has a lot of rot in it - (I am a recovering Catholic) there are a lot of good practicing Catholics, but the Church itself has issues - and they are root core issues, same as Islam does.

Well put, but the catholic church as far as I'm aware has no concpet of jihad - holy war, or fatwa - endorsed killing. And it's not Islam we oppose but sharia law. How doers your Muslim friend feel about that?

While I am critical of Islam and the beliefs among mainstream Muslims, I can support my arguments with researched evidence, statistics, historical examples, etc. I don't appreciate any Muslim-bashing because that's just knee-jerk, anti-intellectual dross. The next time you post about Islam/Muslims please tag me. I'm interested in the debate, and I'd be happy to participate in a civil discussion.

I see too much white guilt and virtue signaling among "progressives" on FB and Twitter, and a tad too much anti-Muslim sentiment among "conservatives" here. Surely, there's a place for balanced, well informed debate.

Have read their Koran. Not very nice to Non Muslims. In fact calls for our Death over a hundred times. Their Faith is incomprehensible to me.

@Tanya It is an intrinsically supremacist religion. Mohammed prohibited the taking of Muslim slaves, so they had to turn to non-Muslims to take in slaves--from Africa and Europe. Islam is not universalist like other religions, meaning it creates huge distinctions between Muslims and non-Muslims and encourages Muslims to treat as inferior non-muslims. Every Muslim majority country has laws that distinguishes between Muslims and non-Muslims when it comes to marriage, divorce, etc. as per Sharia Laws.

@CRBG I know & have read heaps over the last 5 years trying to understand it all. End result is there isn’t going to be friendly union. We need to prepare ourselves. God bless you & I mean Jesus.

Thank you, finally someone who gets it. Over the last past couple days I've been getting tired of seeing anti-Muslim memes/posts, as such posts don't accomplish anything. Discussions should be held on that topic. I've been ignoring those posts you mentioned about above.

Then you are worth ignoring. Put your head back in the sand.

@Tanya Criticize everything, or don't bother wasting your time at all, and I'm not defending Islam here or any other religion for that matter. You're the one worth ignoring, go stick your head up your ass...
