Gas verses electric cars? I don't have much of an opinion on this because if the electric car is a mandate, I can't afford one anyway. Just asking out of wanting ideas, thoughts information etc.
Electric cars are very cool. If you want speed and power, most are quick and nimble with a low center of gravity which makes cornering a dream. I have solar so when I charge at home (95% of time) I am driving practically for free. Then in this time of coronavirus fear, it is great not to have to stop at gas stations and touch the pumps that everyone else touches.
Also, you can get a used one for less than 10k. A used one probably won’t have more than 100 miles of range but that is great if you have a short commute.
Research carbon output vs gas but take into account all the strip mining involved for the raw materials needed for the batteries. This was the make and break for me scientifically.
There's no emissions. The mining of rare earth metals is done by 8 yr old Chinese children, they're carbon neutral.
@Penrodster sad, brutal, honest! I think I can get to like you
@Penrodster That is certainly a factor to take into account as well. But they still use machines, blasting and other carbon generating equipment.
@Gerri4321 I love/hate China as a trade partner. Distrust is a mild word. I work with a lot of mainland Chinese, some of the best people in the world. The gov't is evil incarnate.
@Penrodster I will not agrue there, I research world wide crimes that effect humanity.
Better than the fracking that is required these days to get oil and gas
