Government Debt

The idea that it is okay to take money from our grandchildren, and leave them debt, so that we may continue to enjoy our entitlements now is both morally and ethically reprehensible. Anyone who continues to support the idea that creating a debt so large that this generation can not pay it back, nor the next one, to not care that another generation, not yet born, will live a life in-slaved, demonstrates what a classic narcissist is, one who only cares about themselves, one who is likely to tell you that the cause justifies the means.

As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. - Abraham Lincoln, 16th US President

I don't see how the national debt can ever be paid. It seems that we are way past the possibility of it ever getting paid.
Money isn't even real anyway,it's not even backed by gold anymore.

We may or may not be able to pay it back with the help of time and good management, or we end up defaulting, the government bonds being worth less, the value of the dollar shrinks and prices of everything deflates. I think what is more important is that when anyone lives with no debt, they have more freedom in their lives.

@ScottforKing I agree ....and living debt free, is awesome. Luckily I've never been in debt.

@Dixie That the education system does not encourage our youth to spend less than they make, but buy lottery tickets as a means to a happier life is a conflict of interest that has always troubled me.

@ScottforKing I hate the lottery. I've only played when I received them as gifts, lol
