So, Prime Minister Trudeau has just committed a very considerable amount of money for Icebreakers $200,000,000.00 and in the same breath he is stating that the polar icecap is melting and leaves the Northern East-West passage open as a shipping lane! Why do we need icebreakers?

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Icebreakers will be needed even more if the North West Passage is to be operational as a shipping lane. Melting of the icecap makes the shipping lane possible BUT there will be regular need to deal with de-icing the lane. Climate Change is a gradual, inconsistent process of change, even for the polar ice.
