>"Question: Only fools fall in love: true or false?
Simone Weil replies: “Nothing which exists is absolutely worthy of love. We must therefore love that which does not exist.”
To this answer I would add....,yet.
Sounds a little Jungian to me. Probably a statement of the time period.
...and I believe it was referring to Plato's Philosophy.
@Hedwig50 No idea how to categorize the statement. Nor do I think the author knows what love means. If she thinks only things perfect are worthy of love, so nothing in her world is perfect....she can still hope that the object of her love will some day be perfect, even it it does not appear to be in existence.....yet.
@Hedwig50 Actually, I interpret it to mean a person can love something that doesn't yet exist...(it may be called, hope.) I can love my wife even though she's not yet perfect. But she will be! She can love me even though I'm not yet perfect, too. But, hopefully, we'll make it someday! Make sense?
@dmatic Makes great sense... Thanks. I do know that the quote comes from 'The Collected Works Of George Grant' He was lecturing on Philosophical Ethics. And my reference to the post was based on a video that I watched with the Weinstein Brothers and how they perfectly contrast. I am a huge fan of both brothers. This video was great!
@dmatic Eric Weinstein coined the term "Intellectual Dark Web" they are the root of it. Bret Weinstein was a Professor at Evergreen State College. You should look into that. It's an episode that exposes how disfunct our Universities have become. It's quite disturbing actually. That along with Jordan Petersons fight against Canadas Bill C-16, along with Trumps election and the explosion of Liberal Chaos throughout the United States is the fundamental purpose of the IDW.
