My first step into social media was on myspace back in 2006. I started the profile to keep in touch with my kids. I started blogging trying to get back into the habit of writing. It was a hell of a fun time for a little over 3 years. That was where I posted during the 2008 election. When the GOP shoved McCain down the throats of it's voting base when so many states had not even held their primaries yet, states with enough votes to have easily defeated McCain I vowed t never waste another vote on a republican again. I also started blogging about McCain's shortcomings, not only as a conservative but also as an alleged "war" hero.

I lost a boatload of friends for daring to speak bad about a republican candidate. The whole voting for a lesser evil angle was being shoved in my face at every turn. There was this mook who saw himself as the next Rush Limbaugh, and he had a pretty big following. He had a post and going through the comments, of which there was almost 100, those comments directed at O-bomb-a were all about his being muslim, or being anti-American.

As it was I had just watched a video of McCain at a town hall meeting. This elderly woman was handed the microphone during the question and answer phase. She started out talking about how the idea of this muslim, anti-American man might be elected to office, speaking about O-bomb-a obviously. McCain literally ran up the steps and grabbed the mike out of the woman's hand as fast as he could. He then went on about what a great American O-bomb-a was, how he was a solid Christian man, and would make a great president if he were elected. McCain made it clear he would never tolerate anyone talking about his opponent, and certainly not tolerate any idea that O-bomb-a might be a muslim, or hated this country as it exists. He ended by telling the audience if anyone wanted to disparage his opponent he did not want them raising their hands to speak, that they should just stay in their seats. I reposted that video in the comment section of the blog telling those folks their candidate just told them all to sit down and shut up, and that they were all wrong about O-bomb-a. I was blocked from that page.

I got called all kinds of names for speaking the truth about McCain. Around 2010 I dropped my political profile because politics was just giving me a head ache, and actually seeping over into my real life. THen a couple of years back I started it back up (this was after mysapce had screwed up their blogging platform and everyone had migrated to FB). What I found so funny were all those die hard republicans that called me so many names and attacked my character for not conforming to the lesser evil ideology had suddenly become Never Trumpers, who were actually okay with the idea of Hillary taking office instead of Trump.

Especially with idiots like Mitt Romney and some of the others.
