Well, the article cites a provision from the California Penal Code that doesn’t appear to apply here. It refers to brandishing a deadly weapon “other than a firearm.” Most peculiar.

I lived in LA for 25 years and I felt uneasy at first. By the time I decided it was time to leave, it was because I felt certain it was not a safe place to live. Those who are willing to condemn verbally, are no different in principle than those who murder or make war, and that became the dominant mentality there from my point of view. I believe it is now a hellhole in which conflict is inevitable. It may be wrong to threaten someone with a weapon, but I can surely understand how he might feel justified.

The thing is, if that would have been me brandishing the gun, I probably would have gotten arrested.
