The idiots have even banned their own Facebook page!

In an extraordinary step, Facebook has moved to ban Australian users and publishers from sharing or viewing news articles on its platform.

The move comes as hostilities grew over the Australian government’s media bargaining code, through which it was trying to force tech giants to pay Australian media outlets for using news content in a bid to sustain the future of journalism.

The world-first laws, however, prompted a hostile reception from both Google and Facebook.

Facebook said it failed to strike a solution with the government because the law fundamentally misunderstood the relationship between the platform and publishers.

In a statement, the social media giant said “It has left us facing a stark choice: attempt to comply with a law that ignores the reality of this relationship or stop allowing news content on our services in Australia. With a heavy heart, we are choosing the latter.”
