Human reason, considered as a faculty, in the present state of man, is perfect in no one; but is much blinded, corrupted and prone to error; so that for the most part it more readily judgeth wrong than right; and that corruption arises not only from very early prejudices, from the passions, or from the habit of judging ill; but it cleaves inherently to the very faculty of the mind, from its earliest dawn: this comes to pass through the sin of Adam. Rom. 5:12. Job 11:12.

I agree. Within the soul are three ways of thought, emotions, reason and will. If we allow our emotions to reign our actions are totally irrational and lead to our doom. If we allow our reason to reign we rationalize excuses for doing what we know is wrong. If we give our will control but do not align it with the will of God, then we are totally narcissistic and a danger to ourselves and others. It is only when we align our will with the will of God and let it reign over our minds that the emotions and reason serve to further our growth in the Lord.
