Sadly as my kids grew up my influence was heavily negated because the alleged family courts in Oregon tend to follow programs written by hard core socialist feminist groups and the mother most always gets custody. I can see how my kids were affected by social media in their teen years. Their could not be bothered to monitor their use. In fact she gladly accepted them going online, it was like a baby sitter for her. Like when I was a kid and some parents just sat their kid in front of the television when they were not in school.

Sadly the whole culture pushed these vanues and kids could end up right out of the loop of their peers if they did not participate. I suspect things are a lot worse today now they know clearly how to manipulate our kids. Tough call, but yes often a distraction and baby sitter for parents who are not monitoring what kids are doing. Fine line between protecting kids and not being overbearing.

For those who have not actually followed the link, you might be more concerned about these types of things our children and grandchildren are exposed to daily:

Kids entrained on video games, watching porn, trained in covert operations, attracted into occult and demonic practices, used as school shooters—these things are real.

Banned from FB and Twit and then cancelled my cable tv over 2 years ago. I do not miss them.

Never did twitter, but I do keep my FB account open so I can use their video chat format to talk with my daughter in Spain. I also keep in touch with a bit of family through FB as well. Were it not for that I would have deleted the account ages ago. I had one for years that was just for politics. Mostly friends I had on myspace and when Tom fixed everything that wasn't broke over there most those folks immigrated to FB. I have never cared for the format. But talking to my kiddo is important enough to keep it open.

@KCSantiago I don't do twitter, but yes, FB keeps you in touch with family and friends. I am a light user and primarily care about keeping abreast of family matters.
