Howdy @SpikeTalon,

Wow! I remember when those ships debuted on the open seas. They caused quite a stir. Very fearsome. You knew, just by looking, that they had a devastating broadside. But that was fifty years ago. If it's like the Kuznetsov, it's old, creaky and barely functional.

They should have CIWS like our Phalanx systems. The Phalanx was developed shortly after the Moskva debuted. The one time we lost a destroyer with a Phalanx ('Tanker War' late1980s) was because they had it turned off.

So the Russian have to admit one of two embarrassing things. Either their ammo caught fire our they were sunk by Ukrainians.

It it's an ammo fire it's an admission that they haven't learned basic ammo handling. This was drilled into western navies a century ago in WWI. That's like saying you stepped on your crank and fell into the outhouse.

If the Moskva was sunk by Ukrainian missiles, your CIWS doesn't work or wasn't turned on (incompetence).

Very bad news, very embarrassing news either way.

Big hunks of metal are big radar pings, and easy missile targets.

It's over for big hunks of metal.

Start designing Iron Man suits.
