"Mystical references to 'society' and its programs to 'help' may warm the hearts of the gullible but what it really means is putting more power in the hands of bureaucrats." -Thomas Sowell

Regret never occurs before the regrettable deed.

The gullible are the main mass of the loony left. When they finally realize they have given away the very freedoms they used to get their way?

I also see the vast majority of the gullible as our friends and neighbors who need to feel 'safe" at all costs, who foolishly see the government as our "protectors" and the non-cooperative as the enemy.

@toronto_Georgia Your point is well taken. The people who are the architects of this new utopian vision are trying to bring back communism. As an idea, it does sound great. In reality, it inevitably becomes toxic. In the 20th century, it was the cause of millions dead and human suffering on an industrial scale.
The gullible you speak of are sure they are right and have been programmed to hear only their side. This has happened in the universities for the most part. Now the target has become early learning.
The government is now in the hands of the left and Orwell's 1984 seems entirely posable? I worry for my grandchildren.

@adriaan23 To my mind these people do not want responsibility for anything more than doing their job and hopefully raising their children to some degree, but they really are much closer to us in proximity than we care to contemplate. My heart breaks over one who just "trusts" authority way too much and will never question motivation.
