I'm so over The virtuous, pius, PC media making FAKE TV shows where, I'd hazard a guess at, nearly 70% of the main characters are women. This is despite in real life men dominating these professions, e.g. cop shows, Firemen, Soldiers & FBI type shows. Honestly, women firefighters, like women police is ridiculous (Except if the policewoman is doing support for women victims of violence) Answer me this honestly, Your apartment is on fire and your outside, you shout my husband (or wife) is inside, two firemen step up and offer their help one a women one a man, which would you pick to rush in?

The mainstream media have become so concerned with being "woke" and demonstrating their "diversity" credentials that they are actually distorting reality. They constantly tell us that they are only reflecting society by representing different identity groups accurately but a quick examination of the data available on the website of the Office For National Statistics (UK) proves otherwise. As an example, people who identified at LGB in 2017 made up 2% of the population. If you watch any popular dramas/soaps on TV you'd be forgiven if you thought it was more like 50%. But that's cultural Marxism for you!
The BBC have actually been caught issuing job advertisements in which they openly state that "white people need not apply". Imagine the outrage if you substituted the word "white" with "black/women/gay" etc.
Affirmative action is, in my view, reprehensible. Positive discrimination is an oxymoron. All discrimination, based on race/ gender/sexuality is, by definition, negative against somebody.

First off, I agree that TV and movies are way tilted towards women and even more so towards gays and I am so tired of it. My wife and I were watching the new Star Trek series and enjoying it until the male physician and the male science officer started sucking face. Regarding which of those firefighters I would want rushing in, without any more information I would have to guess that I would want the man because on average they are bigger and stronger.

Yeah, TV shows seem to have WAY more shows where women are in charge over a male dominated profession. Statistically, it's not reality, but it is just TV. Media is arts, arts is generally liberal, liberal is "identity", which includes gender identity, and identities are oppressed, and on and on... 😉

However, I AM of the belief that some men are better suited for roles that have been typically "stereotyped" as feminine just as there are some women that are better suited for roles that have been typically "stereotyped" as masculine.

Each profession has their "standard" of performance requirements. Where I get lost is when there are dual standards for the same role, based on gender. Either you can meet THE standard, or you cannot.

Yes modern TV culture does seem to be unrealistic, perhaps to fuel the me too movement. I binged Netflix recently, but since cancelled it. There was some good stuff to be found, but ideology is pushed and was definitely PC culture, I see why the former POTUS and flotus bought into it. A particularly disturbing series for me although well acted is How To Get Away With Murder. And yes, in case of fire rescue personnel, male upper body strength would be my first choice Everytime. Do love the show Chicago FD though 🙂

Also - has anyone noticed how many "mixed race" couples there are on television ads? It's not even close to reflective of reality but it seems advertisers are trying to push some sort of narrative. I don't get it.

Similarly, same sex married couples!

@Juliann I don't think anyone has problem with the actual mixed race couples. wow, it would be great if we bred out all racial differences, although we'd find something else to be bigoted about. No, I think the point was, we're having diversity for diversities sake rammed down our throats. Diversity, in of it'self is not a virtuous thing. Have you noticed those who are most well off, push this bullshit on us, all because they wanna feel pius and virtuous, and I think that's toxic and racist in itself.

@David_Reynolds Exactly my point. I don't have a problem with it at all (much to Juliann's chagrin?) - I peruse a LOT of FB and Twitter pages belonging to POC and there are rants & raves DAILY about how much they hate their black "kangs" getting with white women...they hate it. They even hate it when dark skinned black men get with lighter skinned black women - I see more racist bullshit on POC pages, like "The Root" (cancerous) and Shawn King, etc. than I ever do on any right leaning social media sites. Which is why I wonder about the media ramming it down everyone's throats.
