Are we witnessessing a type of resurgence of an “aristocratic” and or feudal type of governance in the world. A world where we will be subjects ruled by those who believe they have been selected by a higher power because they are smarter than the rest of us? Are we no loner to be citizens, the true power of government, but children to be cared for?

You wouldn't be the first to come to that conclusion.

Unfortunately I personally don't think we ever left that system. It was just renamed.

We still have the power to stop such arrogance in action. However, if the voters stay asleep and allow any more gerrymandering, it will be impossible to stop the Democrats takeover and abuse of power.
Pretty sad and pathetic state of a party when you have to change the rules to be able to win and to stay in power.
A legitimate win would be issue and policy driven, not sleazy lying obstruction.

Really?
Do you believe we ever left that?
The USA is something Completely New in the History of the World yet it too was Designed to have a “Steady Hand” at the helm.
While the Founding Fathers were creating something Radically New and Different they really only had Monarchies to look at and base their creation on ... in fact many actually wanted to instate their own “King” ...
They did one heck of a Great Job ... but ... as pointed out by Benjamin Franklin and d’Tocqville ... they created a “Republic” ... for as long as we could hold it.
Any form of “Democracy” will stand ONLY AS LONG as the “Voting Population” fails to recognize that THEY can “vote” THEMSELVES Anything ... once they have the Numbers

Like the Christian thought process ... God gave man “free will”, what one does with it ...
The Founding Fathers gave the People “Free Will” but TRIED to include a “Steadying Hand” because they didn’t (rightfully) trust the People to govern themselves evenly.

I think people are perhaps starting to wake up to the fact it never went away. They were just willingly deluded into thinking they lived in "free" countries.

We have seen a resurgence in oligarchy all over the world. And oligarchs hate it when you point out their oligarching, hence wholesale bans on those who call them out in social media.
It explains the fake news phenomenon as well.
