Monsanto and their poison need to GO

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) is the first federal legislator and presidential candidate to call for a ban on Roundup weedkiller.

After federal jurors found that Monsanto/Bayer’s flagship herbicide caused Edwin Hardeman’s non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Gabbard shared the news on Twitter:

"I’ve said it before, I’ll keep saying it: Ban roundup! It’s long past time we stopped relying on corrupt corporations with a profit incentive to fund science telling us their chemicals are 'safe.' Victims shouldn’t have to go to trial to get the truth."

Then, sharing Tom Philpott’s article in Mother Jones, “Scientists Found Worrisome New Evidence About Roundup and Cancer,” Gabbard tweeted:

“It is unacceptable that it takes a lawsuit against Monsanto, maker of Roundup, to determine whether exposure to glyphosate can cause cancer. We must protect the ability of independent scientists to research & publish findings free of corporate influence”

New Harmful Pesticide Bills Offer Hawai’i Hope
The Battle Against Toxic Pesticides Has Met With Little Legislative Action Until Now

"Those supporting the bill included the Sierra Club of Hawaii, which noted: “Glyphosate herbicides and neonicotinoid insecticides are some of the most harmful pesticides applied to our agriculture lands. From the years 2007-2010, the bee population of Hawai?i dropped 50%, and today, 7 of 63 of the state’s native bee species have been placed on the endangered species list.”

Beekeeper Jasmine Joy testified that a study of Hawai?i’s bee populations and honey supply found glyphosate in 80 percent of the honey that comes from Hawai?i. “It’s in our air and water and food,” Joy said."

There are 60,000 chemical compounds in the environment that did not exist in 1900 . The cancer incidence was 3 in 100 . Today it is 11 in 2 women and 2 of 3 men will develop cancer in their lifetimes . The genetic damage done by the chemical and pharmaceutical industries is genocidal and catastrophic .

Bit skeptical. Product has been widely used in agriculture for 40+ years. The idea that a product with that track record is still exposed to punitive damages (over 90% of the settlement) is not justice. Thank you Judge Vince Chhabria (Obama).

This is not a one sided issue with some evil "corporation" on one side. The past banning of DDT has led to the death of millions of people. Misusing corporations like this is a good way to drive up costs and then drive them away.

As for bees, glyphosate is among one of the least lethal pesticides. [academic.oup.com]

Monsanto's army of attorneys have stonewalled the truth for 40 + years . They have no history of effective and safe use .

@Georgesblogforum if an army of lawyers can manufacture perceived reality for 40 years, ...

Monsanto is part of a bigger agenda . The stated goal of the Eugenicists has never changed . A long history of chemical and biological warfare against populations led to application to allow the spraying of dioxin on 80% of the cropland in the United States . The goal is to reduce population by any means necessary .

I am afraid you may be right about that.

Meh.....it is a weed killer. Not sure any thinking person would consider it "safe"

It's more effective on people

@Georgesblogforum it would appear so.

@Boardwine in the original documentary Fed Up , a scene with a Dow Chemical video with a swastika sprouting out of the middle of a U.S. map played , while the narrator droned , "Modern chemical farming was developed in Nazi Germany "

@Georgesblogforum chemicals are very useful in countless applications. Modren life would be inpossible without them.

@Boardwine chemicals do a better job of causing birth defects and spreading cancer around the world

@Georgesblogforum Chemicals can certainly be harmful. But do you propose to eliminate them all? Pesticides are horrible, but they allow millions more to be fed than growing without them.

@Boardwine The lies run deep with Monsanto , Dow , Dupont and all of the Operation Paperclip corporations. If you do not know that there is a war , you will lose .

@Georgesblogforum well, if I lose it'll be with my gun in my hand and twinkle in my eye

@Boardwine The mantra of future casualties
