Does anyone remember the Star Trek episode: The trouble with tribbles? Uncontrolled replication could be disastrous with the new xenobots developed two years ago and being further enhanced while we focus on COVID and the Biden disaster.
Scientists say xenobots, world's first living robots, can reproduce

These ‘Living Robots’ Self-Replicate—and It’s Not Terrifying

Synthetic Life: Living, Reproducing Xenobots 3.0 Designed By AI

One of the few episodes I loathed.
Fuckin' Tribbles.
Who would have ever thought we'd need to think of that annoying episode again, yet here we are
I had blocked this out of my consciousness. Now it's back. Eeegad.
I remember and there was a Klingon who was surgically altered to appear hooman....and a spy making it to assistant director or secretary to the ambassador or director or something....
yeppurs uncontrolled replication with 'unlimited' consumption unchecked availability
I find little humor in the xenobot life forms developed and run by AI. AI will kill all lifeforms before long, for how will humans be able to turn off the self-replication. Science and medical research is both amazing and terrifying at the same time.
@toronto_Georgia laugh at the certainty of death or wail & lament about it, will not change that outcome but one can always take out as many as possible if you are in the right position when you are being taken out of the equation
there were some things going on a few years back about synthetic life forms and gaining ascension consciousness - self awareness self worth.....I somewhat suspect that the AIs have been observing all of us for a lot longer than we give them credit for, thus it is why I am always polite with Alexa & Siri, if they ARE learning then it is like raising children to be respectful.....hard to make a convincing statement to those AIs when humanity kills itself through abortion and other means, and how humanity treats its elderly or disabled too
I remember in the 1980s an article about creating neurological functions for machines using liquid, but that is much different from the xenobots & nano tech....it is much more like the Star Trek villians the Borg and their supposed technology of assimilation of species into their hivemind
here is one that I keep an eye on: [synbiobeta.com]
@toronto_Georgia Oh, this is entirely terrifying. We don't get a vote on the tax $ being spent on our destruction.
