Those who benefited from racist programs like Affirmative Action always whing on a bit about being treated as if they would have failed utterly if not for the advantage of AA.
Umm, look at KHarris and this dip identifying as a SCOTUS judge -- they are the result of AA programs. They are the reason you take such flack on having been given an advantage by a racist policy. Selection by other than merit is on the path to scraping the bottom of any barrel.
