true in numbers. But ending slavery and keeping the country together was probably the right call. From the early articles, our founders tried to end slavery. But back then, they needed to compromise to go against England. Still, they set up a country that would have eventually banned slavery one way or another, and without an ammendment, probably.

@tenslein It only seems trivial if you think of the American lives as individuals but the enslaved people as a big group with no individuals, which, in fairness is what you appear to be doing. No America also means more balkinization of this continent, hence no major force to put the brakes on communism, which today we seem to be more resistant to than the rest of the world.

Because we are what we are, communism may ultimately fail, essentially setting the entire world free. At least I hope so.

Regarding America stopping communism, ackshully, Communism wouldn’t even exist if not for the USA. If America didn’t meddle in WWI, Germany wouldn’t have sponsored the Bolshevik revolution in Russia. I learned that from a Stefan molyneux video.

I wouldn’t say America is especially resistant to communism. Would you be surprised if a self-described socialist became president in 2024? I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

@tenslein As western countries go, we are rather resistant. Americans--even our Lefties are very different from most people in most other countries. We are mostly the descendants of people who were willing to travel 6 - 8 months by ship to near certain doom for the chance of a better life. That self selects for a very different type of person.

Plus our constitution is unique in many ways (which is why the left have tried (and party succeeded) in amending it so many times.

To your question: I would not be too surprised, but such people, Clinton, Obama, etc. have had a way of galvanizing their opposition.

This is all supposition and speculation on my part. I'm just going on my own memory and impressions--not googling facts and figures. Plus I don't have near the informational resources that a Chinese operative would have, so perhaps we should leave it there?
