One might call it a variant or a heresy depending on one's mood.
Even the name Q hearkens back to quelle or "source" of the New Testament.
Just to be clear, I also stand with the Galilean.

The way I view Q followers is similar to how I view WOKE people. They both require a lot of faith based reasoning. They take a theory, connect the dots, and come to a conclusion and plan based on desired outcome.
WOKEs desirable outcome is equity of race, sex, and class. They disrupt the system by dominating media, education, and the arts. Their biggest targets are Republicans and conservatives.
Q's desirable outcome is WOKE culture is destroyed and they disrupt the system by targeting WOKEs biggest mouthpieces who are celebrities and progressive politicians included in their theories.
Both can be dangerous in real life. Only one is equally seen as dangerous by both left and right media: Q. Which I find interesting. Q wouldn't exist without WOKE. Q will still exist without Trump.
Q, in my opinion, is only as dangerous as the WOKE culture it's fighting. Currently, WOKE culture is doing a number on a lot of peoples mental health. Q may be seen as off the wall crazy conspiracy theories to many conservatives and liberals alike. Conservatives, typically, are more of a "facts over feelings" crowd. Others may view it as refreshingly sane considering they've been told there are infinite sexes, children can transition, all whites are racist, history is inaccurate, and the sea of other off the wall things coming from the WOKE.
Individuals coming put of predominantly WOKE schools will either be WOKE or anti WOKE. There's a high probability the anti WOKE will use the same method of desirable outcome to formulate their defensive strategy. The more toxic the WOKE activism is, the more toxic the counter attack will be.
The Democrats have been trying to deal with their more progressive members for years now. They've been at it a lot longer than the right. Republicans will most likely find it difficult to deal with Q, MAGA, or other groups as well. I see it as the result of decades of PC culture breeding the very extremism it was fighting. The social experiment results are beginning to come in, and they are messy as hell.

Interesting comments! Faith-based reasoning. What is the alternative?
@dmatic That's a good question. I wonder if there is an alternative. I think everyone has a certain amount of faith based reasoning. Personal and lived experience also add to the causes we believe in. Not everything, even for conservatives, requires fact or even proof, to be something a person believes in.
I'm not sure there is an alternative to faith based reasoning as much as there are levels of it. One of the biggest practices used in faith based politics is patterning known history with present day desired outcome. This is not an exact science, and often times ignores key variables for one reason or another.
WOKE focus on world history of race and sex. They hypothesize solutions based on practices and conflict of the past to reach a desirable goal of equity in the present. Anti WOKE focus on world history of equity. They hypothesize WOKE activism patterns a history of socialism, so their desirable goal is to prevent falling into communism. Both require more faith that they are going about it the right way than fact.
A current example of faith based reasoning that effects a majority of people, would be wearing a mask. There's scientists and doctors who have said wearing a mask saves lives, and other professionals that say wearing a mask is not necessary. I think most people don't want to get COVID, but considering the conflicting information, a degree of personal faith based reasoning is involved.
I think it largely depends on how much someone personally wants to ground their reasoning in knowns vs unknowns. Personally, I tend to question everything, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm rarely a person of 100% conviction, which admittedly isn't the greatest when it comes to decisions. Part of progress involves risk, afterall.
@saramarylop3z None of us humans seem to KNOW what we think we know. I like your faith based skepticism because of the fact that everyone thinks they're right, but, of course, we KNOW that is not true. In fact, I think the Bible even says: "He who trusts in himself is a fool."
The more I look into this the more I am convinced it is some of the religious zealots who were part of the Satanic Panic Crisis of the 1980s and they are returning to milk this issue and they dragging naive civic nationalists into this.
