As a man with high grade (Gleason 9 out of 10), stage 3 prostate cancer, I would remind everyone that September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

[pcf.org]

Men, please make sure you get your PSA tested when you should. It is a simple blood test that could save your life.

You are in my prayers this month and all year long until you are cured, @KeithTroop.

Thanks, brother! I really do appreciate it! 🙂

You still have it?? Geez, thought you had drove it into remission, that's not good news. Good reminder though, a concern among all men.

I have blood tests every three months, and so far the PSA is essentially zero, which means that no cancer is detectable at this time. However, that can change at any time, and I will not be considered cancer free until such good test results continue for at least several years (typically 5 years). Basically, I'm a bit on pins and needles every three months. So far, though, by the grace of God, I have beaten the odds.

@KeithThroop All good, thanks for clarification.

@SpikeTalon No problem. The specialists told me that high grade prostate cancer like mine can get into the blood in a microscopic form and go throughout the body, which is why it often gets into the bones. So, we are playing a waiting game to see if that is what happened in my case. The only way to know is to keep testing the blood to see if it indicates that cancer is flaring up elsewhere. My surgeon told me that not many guys in my situation get such good news as my first couple of blood tests have given me, but that I shouldn't get my hopes up too much at this point. My next blood test is this coming Tuesday, and we are praying for another good result. They have told me that a case like mine has about a 30% cure rate, which means that I have about a 30% chance that I will not have a recurrence in the next 5 years.

I hope this information might help those who read this thread. I hope it will motivate them to get the PSA testing to catch it early if they have it. Early detection makes a big difference, even with such high grade cancer as mine.

I've had that test once many years ago. But since we're already at the home stretch... 😊

If any of you as a believer in Christ have it or have something else, don't worry about it. You'll be getting an upgrade soon enough (1Thes 4:17, Rom 8:23) 😊
