My father had a disdain for the educated classes. Farmers it seems have a great deal of reverence for common sense. The irony of course is that scientists developed the seeds and farming practices he used. I think we can have an interesting discussion about common vs uncommon sense.

ha ha Yeah... I kinda wanted to include something like "there's gonna be some stuff in there you could really use" LOL But it's more about the parts of ourselves that we neglect when going after academic pursue, which is what leads us not to mind about the starving or the crumbling infrastructures of the poor while we work on our silly useless tech projects like this cube that stands on it own. We have more than enough technology to be applied to current more important issues all over the globe. If the bright minds weren't obsessed with going to Mars, we could help everybody by coming up with new government forms (instead of trying to go after the failed model of Communism,) or any other social issues so we don't burn our own countries to the ground. In the end, the more minds are capable to help, the faster we could get to Mars any way. Freaking Eric Weinstein drives me mad when he talks about inventing a way to go faster than the speed of light to get away from the evils of humanity, not noticing he is carrying it within himself. It's like, how can you be so God damn stupid!!

@wolfhnd Yes, agreed. I love learning. Always have. But I hated school. When pursuing my own education, reading mostly. (I worked my way up to the cataloguing Dept. in my home town Library, where I had first pick of all the new books.) I found the educated in a subject were the most limited, in ideas.
and hoarded their education like a secret code. It seemed too many had prodigious memories, for test passing, but no real curiosity. When I began to read about the way all of the Artist's I loved, made their living, (because an educated in Art person, was disdainful of the question) I found the early Banker's in the 1300-1500's a fascination with the whole subject of economics. Not the theories, but the real world of money, and trade, and ..... I better stop. The real down to earth, how a thing works, is my interest, not so much the theories. And Farmers and business people and Bankers fascinated me. So I probably agree with your father? All early science as you know was done by individuals. The Royal Society of England had more then a few who were mechanics, and heads of rich man's estates. The seed the academics improved for your dad's use, have a history that goes back to the ordinary man working the land.
