I am no expert on Russian law; however, I have read the Bible. I do not recall any instructions concerning beating women. In fact Jesus, who is the model of perfection for Christianity, defended women.

No, the Hadiths are not a "supplement" to the Quran. It is the book of traditions and sayings of Mohammad, the perfect man, who’s example is to be followed as closely as possible by Muslims.

There are a lot of passages in the Bible that also condones the rape of women and i would imagine some beating would take place if she resisted. There are also references to "women submitting"

Women tend to have a lower role in religion, regardless of the figurehead which implies that religion, in all it's guises, is man made.

@maxmaccc I’m not sure what "Bible’ you are talking about? "Maternity is a sin"? Strange the Bible I have says, God told Adam and Eve to "be fruitful and multiply". In Ephesians men are told to "love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it". FYI, Christ sacrificed His life. In any case, the point of my OP was present day violence against women. The Bible does NOT instruct men to physically assault women! The Quran has detailed instructions and numerous examples of the brutalization and humiliation of women! If you truly wish to know the difference. Contrast the perfect man and example of Islam with the perfect man and pattern of Christianity. Mohammed raped, murdered, enslaved, and physically assaulted women. Jesus was a virgin who saved women from persecution by religious zealots. His final act as He was dying was to ensure His widowed mother was cared for after His death.

Certainly, every religion has at some time been used to excuse violence against women, but ask yourself: how many present day Christians are beating, raping, and murdering women because the Bible instructed them to do so? On the other hand, how many Muslims are systematically grooming, raping, assaulting, and murdering little girls and women, and siting Islamic holy books as their authority? Have you heard about the grooming gangs in Britain? The sex slave Yazidis of Iraq? FGM in Africa, Middle East, and USA? The daughters butchered by their Muslim families in so called honour killings?

Where are the present day Christian counterparts busily raping, beating, and murdering in the name of Jesus?
